Time for Teal?

Happy Monday,

I had almost forgotten my love of the colour combination of Teal and white something I used to use on so many occasions.  I was looking at the new stamps to die for from Sue's new range, when I was chatting with Julia at her workshop the other day as she is the Queen of stamping, and I could just see this card in my head.

I started by stamping the floral doodle stamp to die for (to match the New York Collection) in Perfect Medium onto teal foundation card. I added cosmic shimmer detail white embossing powder and heat set it.  I did this twice more to make three identical images.  Using the square die from the New York collection, Herald square die set, I cut each stamped image out.  For the centres I hand cut the middles out using my scalpel.

To make the centre panel I simply placed them on top of each other and then wove a strip of white card, with a piece of teal seam binding stuck along it, through the three shapes.  I wove this piece over and under each successive corner so that all elements of the design were visible across the three.  I then foam mounted this onto a base embossed with the creative expressions A4 embossing folder adding a teal border and tucking the ends over.  To finish the card I added the panel to a large mat of white and teal .

Finally I added a multilingual bow in the same teal seam binding and a black large dazzler to the top.

  5. Morning John,

Stunning card, love the design and Teal is one of my favourite coloured card. This would make a great Christmas card hanger (without the backing card of course) just adding more of the squares on a long strip, gorgeous.

  30. Hi John, my name is Eula. I just wanted you to know that this card was pinned on Pinterest and I followed the link to your blog. I was equally wowed and inspired by more and more of your creative and elegant boxes and cards, that I ended up spending 3 straight days looking through every one of your blog entries --all the way back to the very first! I'm not kidding, my jaw dropped open on some of them because I couldn't believe just how creative, yet sophisticated they were. Needless to say as a fellow card maker myself, I am inspired to "recreate" in my own version (but not exact versions) some of them. I hope that is OK with you. Actually I won't be able to do some of the better ones because I live in the US and Sue Wilson dies are very expensive over here --if you can find them. I can see how your tastes and ability have evolved over the life of the blog into beautiful commercially viable products. Please tell me that you do sell at least some of these creations (rather than just giving them all away). The fact that your boss asked you to make a creation for her and she can get all the cards she wants -and she's seen them all, should tell you just how good you are. Of course I subscribed to your blog, because I can't wait to see more of your stunning beauties.

  31. John, I went to the site Stamps to Die For, but I was led to a SU demonstrator. Didn't find the stamp you suggested for this layout. Any suggestions? This card by the way is spectacular!!! I have already ordered the dies to go with it.

  32. Fantastic card John, so glad I found you. Your work is absolutely stunning. Thank you - but you will cost me a lot of money trying to make some of these absolutely beautiful cards! Ha!!

  33. Hello John!
I am the artist that designed the stamp you used...I love the work you did with it!!!!
I also did the Sassy Girls and the Pet series, can't wait to see more designs from you, All the best,

    Alison Jerry

  34. I know this card was posted some time ago but wanted to let you know how beautiful I think it is.
